HeaLIQs promotes activities that stimulate the interaction between citizens, local academia, SMEs and government. They meet in the Healthy Living Room; an openly accessible forum where citizens engage in lifestyle assessments, test innovative products from SMEs and engage in community programs; all focusing on learning about a healthy lifestyle in an approachable setting. In 2019 the ‘Room’ will become mobile (bus), aiming to visit health illiterate citizens in neighborhoods and rural areas.
Course/Programme Objectives: Building on the 2018 concept, experiences and developed tools, HeaLIQs will decentralize its activities in 2019: we will pilot the Healthy Living Room as a mobile community service, targeting typically health illiterate neighborhoods and rural areas. We will create health awareness while being at the heart of the community. Besides individual focused lifestyle assessment and advice, the activity will have a stronger focus on promoting a healthy environment to support healthy habits. Different workshops between community and health geography scientists and local governments will help shaping a Community Intervention toolkit that we aim to pilot and co-develop with citizens during the neighborhood visits. Here we bring in the expertise of Univ. and Municipality of Copenhagen, the Univ. and Municipality of Groningen and Univ. of Coimbra. Modular outreach materials will be produced tailorable to different publics or social contexts.
HeaLIQs will be disseminated to all CLCs in partnership with the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA); including adoption of 2018 module by Andaluzia and a joint workshop inviting all 74 EIP on AHA Reference Sites.
Target group: The activity will stay freely accessible to all citizens willing to engage with healthy lifestyle services and technologies. However, we aim to target especially those communities or geographic areas inhabited by citizens with typical low health literacy, believing that the potential health gain in these populations is higher and hence the impact of the interaction will increase. Conversely, the innovative strategies developed to target these populations may also prove useful in other contexts.
